About the Artist:

Richard Harsh was born in Cambridge, MA, in 1943 and raised in San Diego where he acquired a love for sailing, surfing, and the sea. He received a BA in Fine Arts from UCLA and entered teaching. He taught art, ceramics, and art history for 41 years at an inner city high school in the south central LA city of Lynwood. During these years he also worked extensively in ceramics, creating architectural castles and fantasies that awaken the child in each of us. Richard’s present oils include a city series, interiors, figurative, classic cars, and his sailing and pier pieces. His art reflects his love for the sea as well as his fascination of the play of light on water.
